Happy Halloween from Eric Three Thousand!

Here's our pumpkin! Last night I carved him up, ripped out his guts, toasted them with olive oil and kosher salt, and then served them with fava beans and a nice Chianti. Poor guy didn't know what hit him but the pumpkin seeds were good! Our first Halloween in the new house; I hope we get lots of trick-or-treaters! Have fun! [Update: we didn't get a single trick-or-treater; apparently they skip the townhomes and go to the nearby multi-million-dollar houses. What do we do with all this stupid candy?!]

Thanks! I'm glad at least someone gets to see it in a picture because I don't think many people will see it in person (other than the mail carrier. Too bad.

"apparently they skip the townhomes and go to the nearby multi-million-dollar houses."

Is that why I never get trick or treaters? We never got any at our townhouse and now I'm in what's basically a condo. Kids could hit one place, literally turn 90 degrees and get another, but I had 3 groups of kids last night (which was a record for me). Do the rich people give out better Kit-Kats or something?

Seriously! Maybe they're giving out special Wonka bars with golden tickets. I don't get it. I grew up in a townhouse complex and it seemed like an ideal place for trick-or-treating; much safer than walking around in the street.

Will always comment, dahlings. This pumpkin is wild! I entertained only two sets of tiny goblins last night, and so brought the extra candy to work - but not before eating all the Dove dark chocolate.

I cannot tell if our pumpkin is screaming in terror, yelling to keep those away or just yawning.

damn, that's a kickass pumpkin.

okay, i've never gotten the pumpkin seed thing. i have eaten pumpkin kernels ~ had some on a salad just yesterday. but when you roast, does that white, woody exterior thing soften? because i don't like the process of woody seed coverings jammed between my teeth as in clothed sunflowers.

just sayin.

and we get no trick or treaters either, while my sister got 200. the combination of very old, very high dollar houses close together in midtown resulted in massive influx of buses and kids coming from all over.

and what's with this spam thing? i've had to do that too. i don't want my penis enlarged, and wouldn't if i had one. probably.

No, pumpkin seeds are good! When they are toasted they become crispy and they smell and taste a little like popcorn. The outside is definitely not as hard and woody as the shell of a sunflower seed.

happy halloween, a week later.

i like your pumpkin. he has good eyes.
my house is 'way away hidden in the woods. no one can find it when they're looking, so certainly no trickertreaters make it here.

too bad. it's a perfect halloweeny spooky old house at the end of a dark lane. and i am a creepy (young) woman with a bunch of cats who lives in the house!
